Ferry Rabaul Queen sank in Bismarck sea, more than 300 missing

Ferry Rabaul Queen went missing at 0830 AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time UTC-011:00) Feb 02 between port Lae, eastern coast of Papua New Guinea, and port Kimbe, New Britain island, Bismarck sea. It’s not clear whether vessel issued distress signal or just went missing. 28 people reported rescued by 0600 UTC, while more than 300 are considered to be missing. Nobody knows yet exact number of people on board, but it is understood there were no less than 350 people. Four merchant ships were diverted to the scene by Australian authorities to help with the rescue, two helicopters from Lae have also joined the operation.
