Offshore support vessel was attacked at 23:10 UTC Dec 13 12 in position 04:16.0N - 005:19.8E, see map. IMB reported, that “Pirates armed with machine guns in a boat chased and fired upon an offshore support vessel underway. Master raised alarm, increased speed, sent distress message and all crew except the Master mustered in the safe room. The on board security team returned fire and after around 20 minutes the firing ceased and the pirates moved away. Due to the exchange of fire one security personal was killed and two sustained injuries”. IMB didn’t report the name of vessel, as usual. The name of vessel was revealed by SAR’s Ports&Ships on Dec 20. It’s a Nigerian vessel: Offshore support vessel PM Salem IMO 6828040, 2943 gt, built 1968, flag Honduras, owner/manager PROJECT MASTERS INTERNATIONAL, Nigeria.
IMB goes on with its’ dubious practice of hiding the names of the attacked vessels.
