Fire erupted on reportedly, upper deck of a ferry Kriti II late at night Nov 19 when vessel was some 4-5 miles west of Greece port Patras, en route from Venice to Igoumenitsa – Patras, with 87 crew, 113 passengers and 18 cars and vehicles, 92 trucks on board. Shortly after midnight vessel docked in Patras with heavy smoke already billowing from the decks, passengers were immediately evacuated with allegedly, no casualities or injures. Fire was put under control by 04:00 LT, and vessel was moved to another pier for the offloading of the vehicles, some of which were heavily damaged or destroyed. No report yet as to what caused the fire.
