Chilean Maritime Latin America web edition update on bulk carrier Ocean Breeze salvage on Sep 21: Vessel’s cargo is offloaded into barge Bertina, plan to offload cargo using hoses connecting holds with the beach was rejected as too complicated. About 700 tons were offloaded. Vessel is in the same position on the beach of Llolleo, her fate is unknown, as well as her present condition. Accident news:

Bulk carrier Ocean Breeze drifted aground early in the morning August 16 after dragging anchor on the road off Chilean port of San Antonio in a stormy weather. Vessel arrived to San Antonio from Chilean port Arica and was anchored for already 2 days. Vessel drifted onto the Llolleo Beach and went hard aground on a sandbank. Chilean Navy helicopters rescued 24 crew members, most of them Filipino nationals. Vessel is loaded with wheat and soy beans. It is understood there is no salvage yet due to bad weather, forecast says the weather won’t improve until August 20 at least, meanwhile the vessel is being battered by waves risking serious damages.
