German boxship Hansa Berlin grounded off Havana, Cuba



German boxship Hansa Berlin ran aground on August 26 2012 some 20 miles off Havana, Cuba, en route from Colon to Santiago. Reportedly, vessel suffered an engine failure and was pushed aground by heavy seas caused by hurricane Isaac. Crew was evacuated. Boxship Hansa Berlin IMO 8910081, dwt 12582, built 1993, capacity 1020 TEU, flag Liberia, manager LEONHARDT & BLUMBERG, Germany.
