Boxship Vega Sagittarius ran aground in the morning August 16 12 miles west of Nuuk, Greenland, reported vesseltracker.com. Hull is breached above the waterline, vessel is hard aground on a rocky bottom. Attempts to refloat while there was a high tide failed. Crews is 17, 16 Filipino and 1 Dane. The vessel, chartered by the Royal Arctic Line, was en route from Nuuk to Aasiaat, when it went aground by yet unknown reasons. The vessel was carrying containers for a number of Greenlandic towns and settlements, including Upernavik, Uummannaq, Aasiaat and Sisimiut.
