Russian freighter Star in distress in Japan sea, half crew evacuated

Russian general cargo vessel Star reported water ingress in engine room through ruptured valve on July 7 2012 in position 90 miles SE off Vladivostok port, Japan sea. Water in engine room is about 1.5 meter high. Nearby Russian freighter Vasiliy Golovnin (IMO 8723426, FESCO) came to assist and took on board 8 out of 16 crew of m/v Star. Salvage tug Lazurit left Vladivostok and is steaming to the distressed Star. According to AIS, m/v Star was en route from Qingdao China to Korsakov, Sakhalin Island. General cargo vessel Star (ex Vitaliy Kruchina, ex Pacific Star) IMO 8723426, dwt 7700, built 1974, flag Cambodia, manager POSEIDON PRIM CO LTD, Vladivostok.
