Coast Guard airlifts man south of Nantucket


CAPE COD, Mass. – A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod rescue crew airlifted a man from the motor vessel SCF Polar, 66-miles south of Nantucket, due to possible appendicitis at 6:48 a.m., Sept. 9, 2010.
Coast Guard Sector Southeastern watchstanders received a report of a man experiencing symptoms of appendicitis aboard the SCF Polar at 2:50 a.m.
The rescue helicopter crew transported the man to Hyannis airport where local EMS took him to Cape Cod hospital at 7:57 a.m.
