Disabled reefer towed to Olesund

The Nordjarl suffered machine failure in the morning of Sep 4, 2010, in the Valderhaugfjord between Hamnøya and Valderøy. It was taken in tow a short distance from grounding and taken to Ålesund. Police and shipping authority started an investigation which showed that an electronic failure had caused the blackout and the crew subsequently lost control of the ship. Diver surveyed the hull in case there had been bottom contact. The ship had been underway from Rørvik to Ålesund.
Nordjarl IMO 8400050, dwt 2607, built 1985, flag Faroe, manager  Nor Lines.
