Boxship MSC Maureen dented in Berendrechtsluis

Boxship MSC Maureen contacted lock wall in Berendrechtsluis on August 30, denting hull on some dozen meters length. MSC Maureen IMO 9251717, dwt 112639, built 2003, flag Panama, manager  Mediterranean Shipping Company.
Berendrechtsluis’ lock:
The ‘Berendrechtsluis’ is a waterway lock situated north of the Port of Antwerp. It forms together with the ‘Zandvlietsluis’ a complex of waterway locks between the ‘Westerschelde’ and the ‘Kanaaldok’ (waterway towards the Port of Antwerp). With a length of 500 meters, 68 meters breadth and 13,5 meters deep it’s the biggest lock in the world, even bigger then the locks of the Panama canal. Before the completion of the ‘Berendrechtsluis’ in 1989 the sister lock, the ‘Zandvlietsluis’ (500 meters length, 57 meters breadth), was the biggest in the world.
