m/v Varnek disappeared in White Sea on July 23, last communication was at 2020 Moscow time, weather was rough with wind up to 25 meters/sec. Vessel was 20 miles off Kanin Nos Point. Search&Rescue strangely, started on July 26 only, and MRCC didn’t report vessel’s disappearance, it was reported by Ministry of Emergency Situations Russia, and judging from news they’re now searching vessel with helicopter. Vessel was enroute Arkhangelsk either to Mezen or to Schoina, no one knows for sure. Vessel was lodaded either with containers or with general cargo, no one knows for sure. Mysteries not restricted with the above, there’s one more mystery. In all databases Varnek is listed as a water tanker, in Russian Maritime Register it’s registered as general cargo. Owner as per international databases Murmansk Shipping Co., but Russian media believes it’s Nord Way Company from Arkhangel. Varnek - IMO 8943002, dwt 164, built 1974, flag Russia.
